Posted On 18 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
Yesterday, Sergio announced that Tia Mowry and Pooch Hall will not be returning to the sixth season of BET's The Game. Although mystery surrounds their departure, there are rumors that the actors left the show due to a salary dispute with the network. Today, BET released the following official statement: After five seasons on 'The Game,' Pooch Hall and Tia Mowry will not return as regular cast members on season six on BET Networks. As a result of Pooch's involvement on a new project, BET is in the process of reworking the casting and storyline of the show. That said, we hope both Pooch and Tia will make several guest appearances. While we (will) miss the...

Posted On 18 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
Very busy actor Anthony Mackie is currently in negotiations to star alongside Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake in New Regency and Stone Village Pictures' Runner Runner. The online gambling thriller, directed by Brad Furman (The Lincoln Lawyer) and penned by Rounders scribes Brian Koppelman and David Levien, will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. Runner Runner stars Timberlake "as a Princeton student who is cheated out of his tuition money playing online poker. He flies to Costa Rica hoping to reclaim his losses from the site's billionaire owner (Affleck), and ends up becoming the corrupt CEO's right-hand man." If confirmed, Mackie will play an FBI...

French Rapper-Turned-Actor Joeystarr Co-Stars In “Polisse” (Criticize His Performance At Your Own Risk)
Posted On 17 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
The feature-length French police procedural Polisse, from director/writer Maïwenn, has been garnering acclaim since 2011, when it took home the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. This year, it received an impressive 13 César Award nominations; including a Best Supporting Actor nod to rapper/actor Joeystarr. Described as a film which "follows the daily lives of a tight-knit team of men and women working in the Child Protection Unit of the Parisian police", Polisse could easily be dismissed as a big-screen French-version of Law & Order:SVU. But after watching the film's trailer, and an explosive clip that feature's Joeystarr's...

“Bolden!” Director In No Rush To Release Jazz Icon Biopic, May Be Another 12-18 Months
Posted On 17 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
It's been four years since filming ended on Jazz icon Buddy Bolden's biopic Bolden! with Anthony Mackie in the titular role. Yet, we are still waiting to hear any news on its release! We last gave you some updates a year ago, when Cynthia posted this piece with some updates via the film's producer Jon Cornick; he said the film was still in the editing phase, but will hopefully screen at festivals towards the end of 2011. Alas, no screening sightings as of yet. However, I just found this bit of news, in which Bolden's first time director - jazz lover, musician and Hyatt hotel heir Dan Pritzker - told Forbes that he's in no rush; the film account on the...

First Looks At K’Naan, Patricia McKenzie In David Cronenberg’s “Cosmopolis”
Posted On 17 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
Who knew? I didn't know before today that rapper K'Naan and actress Patricia McKenzie both co-star in David Cronenberg's eagerly-anticipated Cosmopolis. Twilight star Robert Pattinson looks to wash off all that vampire angst (and teenage girl fans) in what looks like quite a shift for him. It's Cronenberg after all; put the kids to bed :) And it's a film on my "to-see" list for the year. What's it about? New York is in turmoil, the age of capitalism is drawing to a close end. Eric Packer, a high finance golden boy, dives into a white limousine. While a visit from the President of the United States paralyses Manhattan, Eric Packer has...

Noel Clarke’s “4.3.2.1″ Coming To Blu-Ray DVD In July From Universal
Posted On 17 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
That Noel Clarke sure cranks them out doesn't he? He's written 10 movies already, and has acted in too many to count - TV and films roles, although practically none of them has made it across the Big Pond (With the exception of Centurion which is the only film which comes to mind right now). Of course there's his role in the new Star Trek sequel shooting right now; but before then, we'll get a chance to see what all the fuss is about when his film 4.3.2.1., which he not only stars in, but also wrote and directed, will be released on blu-ray DVD from Universal Home Video on July 31st. No word if any director commentary will on the DVD, but it will feature a...

Posted On 17 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
Recall Sergio's post in March, alerting you to a radio interview in which actress Regina King, the voice of both Huey and Riley Freeman on Aaron McGruder's popular The Boondocks TV series, said that there was a possiblity the show might be returning to television for another season. Here's what Ms King said back then: "I talked to Aaron and it looks like they're working things out. I'm trying to be positive. But you know you say one thing and the next thing you know it just fell apart. But it looks strong like we're coming back." She also hinted at a possible Boondocks feature film. Of course,...
