Screening in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival this month - a project we've been following since I first wrote about in December. Here's your first look at Senegalese filmmaker Moussa Touré’s 3rd feature film in 20 years, La Pirogue (The Pirogue), via several clips. Recapping... its synopsis on the film, which is described briefly as a story about undocumented immigrants: La Pirogue is the moving story of a group of Senegalese men who set off for Europe on a simple fishing boat, hoping for a better life. Baye Laye is the captain of a fishing pirogue who dreams of earning a better living for his family. When he is...

Watch: VH1 Releases Super Trailer For Upcoming Season 2 of “Single Ladies” (Debuting May 28)
Posted On 19 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
Time flies doesn't it? I feel like it was only recently that this series made its debut on VH1, and recall a lot of you complaining about it :) Well, season 1 has long been over, and the network did renew the series for a second season, much to the disappointment of some I'm sure, and the first episode of that sophomore season is scheduled to air in exactly 10 days - May 28th! So get ready... just in time as Scandal ends :) The show, which made its debut on May 30th, 2011, averaged close to 3 million viewers each week, with a strong showing in its core 18 to 34 female demographic. I finally watched most of season 1 if only to see what exactly the draw...

The BBC/Sky 1 HD production of Sinbad - a TV series that will feature performances from the likes of Sophie Okonedo, George Harris, Ashley Walters and Estella Daniels - is scheduled to air in the UK this July. And while French network Canal+ and Canadian broadcaster Bell Media were both pre-sold local rights to air Sinbad when it finally does premiere, no word (yet) on if/when it'll reach North American shores. When Sky 1 HD announced the creation of the series back in 2010, they promised "a 21st century take on the classic 8th century iconic hero, Sinbad, reinvigorating the hero’s adventures for a contemporary...

S&A “Scandal” Talk-Back Session #4 (Who IS Quinn Perkins? You’ll Have 13 New Episodes To Find Out)

And that's a wrap folks! It suddenly struck me how "post-racial" we could say the show is, in that Olivia Pope's race/skin color is really of no real bearing on the series' various narrative threads. It just is; we see her, we know she's a black woman, but it's not announced. Other than the visual reminder (can't wash it off as the saying goes), you actually almost forget that she IS black; and that's also a credit to how connected and engaged you are as a viewer of the series, with all the various parts in this assembly line working well together to keep you occupied otherwise. Whether all of that's a good thing or bad thing...

First Official Look At Tyler Perry And Cast In “Alex Cross”
Posted On 18 May 2012 By storyboard. Under celebrities.
Well... I did say that, with its release date just about 5 months away, a little bird told me that we should expect to see the first teaser/trailer for Tyler Perry's Alex Cross any day now. And while it's not here yet, we've got our first official look at the film via still images (which, as past instances tell us, are often followed by moving images, if you catch my drift). Repeating something I've said before, I'm genuinely intrigued by this project, mostly because I have absolutely no idea what to expect. This is brand new territory for Tyler Perry, and since it was first announced that he would star in the film about a year ago, or...
